Cultural

We want students to exhibit their talents and develop their passions at every opportunity. Our cultural activities cater to a wide range of abilities and interests, empowering students with the confidence to try everything the Emmaus journey has to offer.

Cultural activities at Emmaus include:

  • annual musical production
  • music ensembles
  • drama groups
  • dance groups

Musical Production

Each year the College produces a full scale musical production involving the work of more than 100 students across all Year levels, plus parents and staff. This is a challenging and rewarding experience in which students of all abilities can take part. Participation extends beyond the stage and encourages involvement in the orchestra, set design, costumes, sound and lighting.

Musical Ensembles

Emmaus has a number of ensembles that rehearse and compete all year round. Students have opportunities to perform in:

• Concert Band
• Jazz Band
• String Orchestra
• Vocal Ensemble

All Emmaus ensembles compete in the annual Rockhampton Eisteddfodd as well as Diocesan and Queensland Catholic Music Festivals. In 2015 our ensembles were involved in a three-day workshop with one of Queensland’s top music schools; Kirwan State High School in Townsville. Our Concert and Jazz bands along with the Vocal ensemble also performed at the Blessing and Opening of New Buildings, attended by Bishop of Rockhampton Michael McCarthy along with numerous dignitaries from Diocesan Catholic Education and the Queensland Government.
