Queensland School Sport, Life Membership awarded to Karyl Young

Emmaus College Head of Information Technology and Business, Karyl Young, was awarded the highest honour in Queensland School Sport; Life Membership at a presentation in Brisbane recently.

Life Memberships are awarded to individuals who have demonstrated respected leadership of their colleagues and have given a minimum of ten years volunteer service to the organisation of School Sport.

Mrs Young has been the Capricornia Regional 13-19 years Tennis Team Manager for the past 24 consecutive years.

Mrs Young has also been heavily involved at the state sporting level having convened Queensland School Sport State Championship events in 1993, 2001, 2011 and 2016; hosted in Rockhampton, which now has one of the biggest and best tennis centres in the state.

As well as her contribution to the organisation of these championships, Karyl has served as the Queensland School Sport 13-18 years State Team Manager in 2002, 2003 and again in 2007.

The newest life member has been the Treasurer of the Queensland School Sport 13-19 years Tennis Committee since 2005.

Karyl Young has been a tireless worker committed to providing Queensland students with a representative pathway in tennis; something that many young athletes have benefited from and will continue to do so in the future.

The Emmaus College community congratulates Karyl on her award and offers thanks for her passion and dedication to sport in Queensland.
