Industrial Technology and Design
The Emmaus College Industrial Technology and Design department provides opportunities for students whose talents lie in practical areas.
Our subject area combines the skills of woodworking, metalworking and graphical communication through a wide range of subject choices.
The subjects that the Industrial Technology and Design department offer include Year 7 and 8 Industrial Technology and Design (compulsory elective) to give students a taste of the three key areas of Woodworking, Metalworking and Graphics. In Year 9 and 10 we offer electives of Woodworking, Metalworking, Graphics, Workshop Graphics and Design and Technology.
Our Senior subject offerings are divided into the Authority subjects of Graphics and Technology Studies and the Authority Registered subjects of Engineering, Furnishing and Workshop Graphics.
These courses allow students to express their manual skills by creating products with practical applications. Students are also given the opportunity to showcase their work at Emmaus’ annual Turning on the Talent exhibition.
Work placement is also a key feature of our Senior non-OP course, providing opportunities for students to pursue and commence traineeships and apprenticeships.
