Instrumental Music

Emmaus College provides instrumental music tuition to students keen to learn an instrument in the following areas:

  • Woodwind
  • Brass
  • Strings
  • Guitar
  • Piano
  • Percussion
  • Voice

Tuition is available to students who are continuing their studies and also to beginners. Students wanting to complete exams can negotiate with their tutor.

A variety of instruments are available through the Emmaus Instrument Hire Program.

Lessons are provided at the school during school hours or immediately outside school hours (where available) by specialised instrumental music teachers who bill parents directly. Each lesson is 40 minutes, once per week.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC IN 2017

A meeting for ALL instrumental music students (those learning an instrument, or playing in an ensemble, or both) will be held on Monday Week 2 (30 January) at first break (10:35am) in the music room (Yaamba Road, next to the library on the dome side). Students should be punctual and bring their lunch with them.

ENROLMENTS

Enrolments for Instrumental Music are still open! A reminder to new, interested students as well as those wishing to continue that they should complete their enrolment as soon as possible to avoid missing out on a place in the program.

There are still a high number of vacancies on clarinet, trombone and trumpet and these instruments have their hire fee reduced to only $16 per term.

ENSEMBLES

A sign-on form has been placed on the intranet for interested students to indicate which day is most suitable for rehearsal. Further information regarding vocal ensemble and string ensemble will be available soon.

Northside Catholic Schools Instrumental Music Program

Students from St. Anthony’s, St. Joseph’s Park Avenue and St. Mary’s Catholic Primary Schools can participate in a comprehensive Instrumental Music Program, co-ordinated by Emmaus College.

It is a structured tuition program for students wishing to learn orchestral, wind or percussion instruments on a group basis. The program’s aims are to develop a student’s musical experience through group lessons and performance-style ensemble rehearsals.

These ensembles include Concert Band, Full Orchestra, String Orchestra, Jazz Band, Drum Corps and various Vocal groups. It is important to note that students can participate in any ensemble without having to undertake tuition from within the Instrumental Music Program.
